Your Family Portrait Experience,
Step by Step
Spill the Details
We’ll start with a phone call to talk about your family and what you would love captured, whether that’s a cozy at-home session or an outdoor adventure in Boston. We’ll also go over wardrobe ideas, location options, and potential dates so you feel fully prepared before the camera ever comes out.
Lock It In
To officially reserve your family portrait session, you’ll sign a simple contract and pay a 75% deposit. Once that’s complete, your spot is confirmed. The remaining 25% is due the day before your session.
Enjoy the Session (Don’t Worry, I’ll Help)
This is where the fun begins. I’ll guide your family through a mix of relaxed poses and candid moments so everyone feels comfortable and natural. No stiff smiles — just connection, laughter, and genuine personality captured in your Boston family portraits.
Get the Goods
Family portrait sessions are two hours at your home or on location. You’ll receive at least 100 high-resolution, color corrected digital images in a private gallery link. Your Boston family photos will be ready within two weeks of your session.
Cancellation & Rescheduling
Life with kids is unpredictable, and I completely understand that. Deposits and session fees are non-refundable, but I’m happy to offer a one-time reschedule to a new date and time that works for both of us if you provide at least 48 hours’ notice.

FAQ
What is included in a family portrait session?
Family portrait sessions last about two hours and take place at your home or on location. You’ll receive at least 100 high-resolution, color corrected digital images in a private gallery link. Your Boston family photos will be ready within two weeks of your session.
What should we wear for our family photos?
Simple and coordinated always works best, but that does not mean everyone has to wear the exact same colors. Matching outfits can look great, but I also love when families choose a palette of three or four colors and mix and match within it. For example, blue, white, gray, and black work beautifully together without feeling too uniform.
Avoid busy patterns, neon tones, or large logos that can be distracting. Outfits should feel comfortable and reflect your family’s style. If you are unsure, bring a couple of options and I will help you decide. I also put together a detailed wardrobe guide on my blog. Click HERE to check it out.
Do you help with posing?
Absolutely. I will guide your family through a mix of relaxed poses and candid moments so everyone feels comfortable and natural. The goal is to capture genuine connection, laughter, and personality in your Boston family photos.
How do I book a family portrait session?
The best way to book your Boston family portrait session is by cell, either call or text. If I do not respond right away, I am most likely in the middle of a shoot, but I will get back to you as soon as I am free. You are also welcome to email me if that is easier for you.
Will you post our family photos on social media or your website?
Most of my Boston family portrait clients love being featured on social media or in my portfolio, but your privacy always comes first. If you prefer to keep your photos private, just let me know and I will gladly respect that.
Are appointments required for a Boston family portrait session?
Yes, all family portrait sessions are by appointment. Each Boston family session is carefully planned in advance so we can choose the best location, timing, and style for your photos. This ensures a relaxed experience and images your family will love.
What forms of payment do you accept for family sessions?
For your convenience, I accept all major credit cards, as well as Venmo and Zelle for Boston family portrait sessions.
What are the booking and cancellation policies for family portrait sessions?
To reserve your date, I require a signed contract and a 75% deposit of the session fee. Your spot is officially booked once both are received. The remaining 25% is due the day before your Boston family portrait session.
Deposits and session fees are non-refundable, but if you provide at least 48 hours’ notice, I am happy to reschedule once to a new date that works for both of us.
What happens if it rains the day of my Boston family portrait session?
If your family session is outdoors and the weather does not cooperate, we will reschedule to a new date and time that works for both of us.
What happens if we are running late to our Boston family portrait session?
The best thing you can do is keep me updated in real time. If we are shooting at your home and I do not have another client immediately after you, I will do my best to adjust. For outdoor sessions, timing is more limited since they are scheduled around the best natural light. Arriving late may reduce your shooting time and could mean missing out on the most flattering light for your photos.
Do I own the rights to my family photos?
You will have full rights to use your family photos for personal use and self-promotion, such as social media, websites, holiday cards, or sharing with friends and relatives. What you cannot do is sell them for profit or give them to a third party for commercial use.
Do you travel outside of Boston for family portrait sessions?
Yes! I am happy to travel outside of Boston for family sessions. Depending on the location, a travel fee may apply.
How often should we update our family photos?
Many families choose to update their portraits every year or two to capture how quickly kids grow and change. At a minimum, updating your Boston family photos every three to four years is a good idea so they always feel current. It is also a wonderful idea to plan a session around important milestones, such as bar and bat mitzvahs, welcoming a new addition, graduations, or anniversaries.
How are the final family photos delivered?
You’ll receive a private gallery link to download your Boston family photos in high-resolution JPG format. The link will stay active for 30 days, so be sure to save and back up your images in a safe place.
Do you keep the photos, and can I order more later?
Yes, you can order additional family photos for up to 30 days after your session. After that, I clear space in my archive to make room for new shoots. If you think you might want extras, it’s best to decide within that timeframe so your Boston family photos are still available.
