Your Boston Family Portrait Session,
step by step
Spill the details
We’ll start with a quick phone call. I want to hear about your family and what you want out of our session.
Then we’ll figure out where this makes the most sense. Maybe that’s at home. Maybe it’s Beacon Hill, the Public Garden, the South End, the Seaport, or even a beach on the North Shore or South Shore. We’ll choose something that feels like you.
We’ll also talk through what to wear and pick a date, so by the time session day comes around, you feel ready.
Lock it in
Securing your Boston family portrait session is easy. A quick contract and a 75% deposit will hold your spot, and the remaining 25% is due the day before our shoot.
Let's have fun (don't worry, I'll help)
This is where everything comes together. I’ll guide you when needed, then step back and let your family move and interact naturally. The in-between moments. The laughter. The way your kids lean into you. That’s what we’re really capturing.
Get the goods
Within two weeks of your session, you’ll receive at least 100 high resolution, color corrected photos in a private online gallery. They’re easy to download, share, and print.
Cancellation and Rescheduling
I completely understand that life happens. Deposits and session fees are non-refundable, but I’m happy to offer a one-time reschedule session to a new date and time that works for both of us if you give at least 48 hours’ notice.

Ready for family photos everyone will love?
No stiff poses, no forced smiles. Just relaxed, fun sessions that capture the real personality and connection of your family.

FAQ
What is included in a family portrait session?
Family portrait sessions last about two hours and take place at your home or on location. You’ll receive at least 100 high-resolution, color corrected digital images in a private gallery link. Your Boston family photos will be ready within two weeks of your session.
What should we wear for our family photos?
Simple and coordinated always works best, but that does not mean everyone has to wear the exact same colors. Matching outfits can look great, but I also love when families choose a palette of three or four colors and mix and match within it. For example, blue, white, gray, and black work beautifully together without feeling too uniform.
Avoid busy patterns, neon tones, or large logos that can be distracting. Outfits should feel comfortable and reflect your family’s style. If you are unsure, bring a couple of options and I will help you decide. I also put together a detailed wardrobe guide on my blog. Click HERE to check it out.
Do you help with posing?
Absolutely. I will guide your family through a mix of relaxed poses and candid moments so everyone feels comfortable and natural. The goal is to capture genuine connection, laughter, and personality in your Boston family photos.
How do I book a family portrait session?
The best way to book your Boston family portrait session is by cell, either call or text. If I do not respond right away, I am most likely in the middle of a shoot, but I will get back to you as soon as I am free. You are also welcome to email me if that is easier for you.
Where should we do our Boston family photo session
Your Boston family photo session can take place in your home or outdoors at a location around the city. The best choice usually depends on the kind of atmosphere you want and what feels most natural for your family.
Photographing your family at home can feel especially personal. Kids are often more relaxed in their own space, and the photos capture the place where so many of your everyday memories already happen.
Outdoor sessions around Boston add movement and variety. The Public Garden and the Esplanade offer beautiful greenery, Beacon Hill brings classic Boston charm with its historic streets, and the Seaport has a more modern feel with open space and waterfront views.
The beaches of the North Shore and South Shore are also beautiful settings for family portraits, especially around sunset. And if you have a favorite spot outside the city, I am always happy to travel throughout New England for a great location.
Every setting creates a different mood. Together we’ll choose the one that feels right for your family.
How often should we update our family photos?
Many families choose to update their portraits every year or two to capture how quickly kids grow and change. At a minimum, updating your Boston family photos every three to four years is a good idea so they always feel current. It is also a wonderful idea to plan a session around important milestones, such as bar and bat mitzva welcoming a new addition, graduations, or anniversaries.
Will you post our family photos on social media or your website?
Most of my clients love being featured on social media or in my portfolio, but your privacy always comes first. If you prefer to keep your photos private, just let me know and I will gladly respect that.
How do I book a family portrait session in Boston?
The best way to book your branding session is by cell, either call or text. If I do not respond right away, I am probably in the middle of a shoot, but I will get back to you as soon as I am free. You are also welcome to email me if that is easier for you.
Are appointments required for a family portrait session in Boston?
Yes, all family portrait sessions are by appointment. Each Boston family session is carefully planned in advance so we can choose the best location, timing, and style for your photos. This ensures a relaxed experience and images your family will love.
What forms of payment do you accept?
For your convenience, I accept all major credit cards, as well as Venmo and Zelle.
What are the booking and cancellation policies for family portrait sessions in Boston?
To reserve your family portrait session, I’ll send over a simple contract and invoice for a 75% deposit to hold your date. Once those are taken care of, your spot is officially booked. The remaining 25% is due the day before your session.
Session fees and deposits are non-refundable. If something comes up, please let me know at least 48 hours in advance and I’ll gladly reschedule your session once to a new date that works for both of us.
What happens if it rains the day of my family portrait session?
If your Boston family portrait session is scheduled outdoors and the weather does not cooperate, we will reschedule to a new date and time that works for both of us.
What happens if we are running late to our session?
The best thing you can do is keep me updated in real time. If we are shooting at your home and I do not have another client immediately after you, I will do my best to adjust.
For outdoor sessions, timing is more limited since they are scheduled around the best natural light. Arriving late may reduce your shooting time and could mean missing out on the most flattering light for your photos.
Do I own the rights to the images?
You will have full rights to use your family photos for personal use, social media, holiday cards, or sharing with friends and relatives. What you cannot do is sell them for profit or give them to a third party for commercial use
Do you travel outside of Boston?
Yes! I am happy to travel for sessions, and depending on the location there may be a travel fee.
How are the final images delivered?
You will receive a private gallery link to download the retouched images in high-resolution JPG format. The link will remain active for 30 days, so be sure to save and back up your photos in a safe place.
