Your Boston Headshot Session,
Step by Step
Spill the details
We’ll start with a quick phone call to figure out how you plan to use your headshot. We’ll also talk about the style of photography you’re drawn to, wardrobe ideas, and potential dates so you feel fully prepared before you even step in front of the camera.
I’ll help you decide whether a studio session or an on-location shoot makes the most sense for you and the look you’re going for.
If we’re shooting on location in Boston, we’ll choose a setting that feels right for you, from the brick streets of the South End, the classic charm of Back Bay or Beacon Hill, to the clean, modern architecture of the Seaport. If you prefer something softer and more natural, the Public Garden is always a great option.
Lock it in
Securing your headshot session is easy. A quick contract and a 75% deposit will hold your spot, and the remaining 25% is due the day before our shoot.
Strike a pose (don't worry, I'll help)
This is where the magic happens. I’ll guide you through poses and expressions that feel natural, confident, and approachable. Even if stepping in front of the camera makes you nervous, you’ll find the session fun and comfortable.
Get the goods
Essential and Signature Sessions: We’ll sit down together right after the session to choose your favorite images. If you’d prefer more time, I can prepare a private gallery with the best color-corrected photos for an additional $200. Retouched images will be delivered within five business days.
Personal Branding Sessions: You’ll receive a private gallery with the strongest photos from the shoot within one week. Once you make your selection, retouched images will be delivered within five business days.
Cancellation and Rescheduling
I completely understand that life happens. Deposits and session fees are non-refundable, but I’m happy to offer a one-time reschedule session to a new date and time that works for both of us if you give at least 48 hours’ notice.

Ready to finally love your headshot?
No stiff poses, no awkward smiles, just relaxed, fun sessions that bring out the real you.

FAQ
How often should I update my headshot?
I recommend updating your headshot at least every two years. If you change your look, job, or brand sooner, it is a good idea to update earlier so your photo always feels current and authentic. And if people don’t recognize you from your photo, that is a sure sign it’s time for a new one.
What should I wear for my headshot session?
Solid colors usually look best for professional headshots. Avoid busy patterns, neon tones, or clothing with large logos that can pull attention away from your face. Neutrals, jewel tones, and soft shades photograph beautifully. Make sure your clothes fit well, not too tight and not too loose. Bring a couple of options on hangers so they stay neat and ready to wear, and I will help you choose what works best during the session. For women, small and simple jewelry is best so it does not distract from your face. If you are unsure, you are welcome to text me photos of your wardrobe choices before the shoot, and I will be happy to review them with you.
Do I need professional hair and makeup for my headshot?
For women, professional hair and makeup are recommended unless you feel confident doing your own. The goal is to look polished, natural, and still like yourself. For men, makeup is not necessary, but a fresh haircut and a well-groomed beard or shave can make a big difference in your headshot. To keep shine under control, I provide both powder and blotting sheets and can apply them during the session if needed.
Where do you shoot on-location headshots in Boston?
I usually shoot throughout Boston, including Back Bay, Beacon Hill, South End, Seaport, and the Financial District. I also work regularly in the Public Garden and nearby areas like Cambridge and Brookline. Together, we’ll choose the right location based on the look you want.
Do you help with posing?
Absolutely. You do not need to practice in the mirror or worry about what to do with your hands. I will guide you through poses, angles, and expressions so your headshots look confident, natural, and authentic.
How do I book a session?
The best way to book your headshot session is by cell, either call or text. If I do not respond right away, I am probably in the middle of a shoot, but I will get back to you as soon as I am free. You are also welcome to email me if that is easier for you.
How long does a headshot session last?
The length depends on the package you choose, with a little extra time around the session so everything feels relaxed and comfortable.
Please plan for approximately 15 minutes before we begin shooting to get settled, adjust lighting, and review wardrobe so you feel completely comfortable before the camera comes up.
For Essential and Signature sessions, allow an additional 30 minutes after we finish shooting to sit together, review your images, and choose your favorites.
For on-location personal branding sessions, you’ll receive a private online gallery after the shoot and can make your selections at your own pace.
Will you post my photos on social media or your website?
Most of my clients love being featured on my website or social media, but your privacy always comes first. If you prefer to keep your photos private, just let me know and I will gladly respect that.
Can I bring a friend or partner to the shoot?
It’s completely up to you. Some people feel more comfortable having a trusted friend or partner with them, while others prefer to come solo and focus on the session. If you do bring someone, one supportive guest works best so the shoot stays relaxed and distraction-free. If the session is for a minor, a parent or guardian must be present.
Are appointments required for a Boston Headshot session?
Yes, all headshot sessions are by appointment. Each session is planned in advance so we can customize the setup, lighting, and style to match your goals. This ensures you get a professional experience that feels smooth, relaxed, and tailored to you.
What forms of payment do you accept?
For your convenience, I accept all major credit cards, as well as Venmo and Zelle.
What are the booking and cancellation policies?
To reserve your headshot session, I’ll send over a simple contract and invoice for a 75% deposit to hold your date. Once those are taken care of, your spot is officially booked. The remaining 25% is due the day before your session.
Session fees and deposits are non-refundable. If something comes up, please let me know at least 48 hours in advance and I’ll gladly reschedule your session once to a new date that works for both of us.
What happens if it rains the day of the shoot?
If your headshot session is scheduled outdoors and the weather does not cooperate, we will reschedule to a new date and time that works for both of us.
What happens if I am running late?
The most important thing is to keep me updated in real time. If your session is in the studio and I do not have another client right after you, I will do my best to adjust. For outdoor sessions, timing is more limited since I schedule them around the best natural light. Arriving late may reduce your shooting time and affect the quality of light we can use. To avoid any stress, plan to arrive a few minutes early so you have time to settle in and relax before we start.
Do I own the rights to the images?
You will have full rights to use the images for personal use and self-promotion, including social media, websites, portfolios, and holiday cards. What you cannot do is sell them for profit or provide them to a third party for commercial use.
Do you travel outside of Boston?
Yes! I am happy to travel for sessions, and depending on the location there may be a travel fee.
How are the final retouched images delivered?
You will receive a private gallery link to download the retouched images in high-resolution JPG format. The link will remain active for 30 days, so be sure to save and back up your photos in a safe place.
