Your Portrait Session,
Step by Step

Spill the details

We’ll start with a phone call where we’ll talk about what you want to capture.

Some people book these sessions to build or update a model or actor portfolio, others want a meaningful gift for a partner or a fun anniversary shoot, and many simply want portraits that feel bold, expressive, and personal.

We’ll also go over style, wardrobe ideas, locations, and potential dates so everything feels planned and relaxed before you ever step in front of the camera.

Lock it in

Securing your Portrait session is easy. A quick contract and a 75% deposit will hold your spot, and the remaining 25% is due the day before our shoot.

Strike a pose (don't worry, I'll help)

This is where the magic happens. I’ll guide you through poses and expressions that feel natural, confident, and approachable. Even if stepping in front of the camera makes you nervous, you’ll find the session fun and comfortable. I’ll be there to direct and support you the entire way.

Get the goods

You’ll receive a private gallery with the strongest photos from the shoot within one week. Once you make your selection, retouched images will be delivered within five business days.

Cancellation and Rescheduling

I completely understand that life happens. Deposits and session fees are non-refundable, but I’m happy to offer a one-time reschedule session to a new date and time that works for both of us if you give at least 48 hours’ notice.

Own Your Moment

Together, we’ll create portraits that feel authentic, stylish, and completely you. These Boston creative portrait sessions are perfect for personal shoots, couples, portfolio work, or even as a meaningful gift for someone special.

FAQ

Who are creative portraits for?

Creative portrait sessions are for anyone who wants images that go beyond the ordinary. They’re perfect for men, women, and couples, as well as for building or updating a model or actor portfolio. Many clients also book them as meaningful gifts for a partner, a birthday surprise, or a way to celebrate an anniversary.

What should I wear for my portrait session?

I’ll help you plan the right outfits during our call so everything feels intentional and fits the mood, style, and location of your creative portrait session.

Your outfit sets the tone for your portraits. Bold, fashion-forward pieces work beautifully for an editorial vibe, while simple, polished outfits are perfect for timeless portraits.

Do I need professional hair and makeup for my creative portrait session?

For women, professional hair and makeup are highly recommended, since they can help you feel confident and ensure your portraits look polished while still feeling like you. For men, makeup is not necessary, but a fresh haircut and a well-groomed beard or shave can make a big difference. To keep shine under control, I provide powder and blotting sheets during the session if needed.

Where do you shoot on-location portraits in Boston?

I usually shoot throughout Boston, including Back Bay, Beacon Hill, South End, Seaport, and the Financial District. I also work regularly in the Public Garden and nearby areas like Cambridge and Brookline. Together, we’ll choose the right location based on the look you want.

Do you help with posing?

Absolutely. You don’t need any modeling experience for your creative portrait session. I’ll guide you through poses, angles, and setups that highlight your personality and match the style you want.

What if I want something more artistic or styled?

That is absolutely possible. Creative portrait sessions are designed to be flexible, and we can take them in a more editorial, fashion-inspired, or artistic direction if that matches your vision. During our planning call, we’ll map out the styling, location, and mood together so the final images feel unique, intentional, and personal to you.

How do I book a portrait session?

The best way to book your portrait session is by cell, either call or text. If I do not respond right away, I am probably in the middle of a shoot, but I will get back to you as soon as I am free. You are also welcome to email me if that is easier for you.

What happens if it rains the day of my portrait session?

If your creative portrait session is outdoors and the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll reschedule to a new date and time that works for both of us.

Will you post my photos on social media or your website?

Most of my clients love being featured on my website or social media, but your privacy always comes first. If you prefer to keep your photos private, just let me know and I will gladly respect that.

Can I bring a friend or partner to the shoot?

It’s completely up to you. Some people feel more comfortable having a trusted friend or partner with them, while others prefer to come solo and focus on the session. If you do bring someone, one supportive guest works best so the shoot stays relaxed and distraction-free. If the session is for a minor, a parent or guardian must be present.

Are appointments required for a Boston portrait session?

Yes, all portrait sessions are by appointment. Each session is planned in advance so we can customize the setup, lighting, and style to match your goals. This ensures you get a professional experience that feels smooth, relaxed, and tailored to you.

What forms of payment do you accept?

For your convenience, I accept all major credit cards, as well as Venmo and Zelle.

What are the booking and cancellation policies for portrait sessions in Boston?

To reserve your portrait session, I’ll send over a simple contract and invoice for a 75% deposit to hold your date. Once those are taken care of, your spot is officially booked. The remaining 25% is due the day before your session.

Session fees and deposits are non-refundable. If something comes up, please let me know at least 48 hours in advance and I’ll gladly reschedule your session once to a new date that works for both of us.

What happens if I am running late to my portrait session?

The most important thing is to keep me updated in real time. If your portrait session is in the studio and I do not have another client right after you, I will do my best to adjust. For outdoor sessions, timing is more limited since I schedule them around the best natural light. Arriving late may reduce your shooting time and affect the quality of light we can use. To avoid any stress, plan to arrive a few minutes early so you have time to settle in and relax before we start.

Do I own the rights to the images?

You will have full rights to use the images for personal use and self-promotion, including social media, websites, portfolios, and holiday cards. What you cannot do is sell them for profit or provide them to a third party for commercial use.

Do you travel outside of Boston for portrait sessions?

Yes! I am happy to travel for sessions, and depending on the location there may be a travel fee.

How are the final retouched images delivered?

You will receive a private gallery link to download the retouched images in high-resolution JPG format. The link will remain active for 30 days, so be sure to save and back up your photos in a safe place.

The best part of my job? My clients

It's addictive

Alex took my photos once and I can tell you it's addictive, so I came back for more and more (and a few more mores). He is a real professional and made me feel so comfortable and pretty. Can't wait for our next session! - Dafi B
