Your Creative Portrait Session,
Step by Step
Spill the Details
Your creative portrait session begins with a phone call where we talk about what you want to capture. Some people book these sessions to build or update a model or actor portfolio, others want a meaningful gift for a partner or a fun anniversary shoot, and many simply want portraits that feel bold, expressive, and personal. We’ll also go over style, wardrobe ideas, locations, and potential dates so everything feels planned and relaxed before you ever step in front of the camera.
Lock It In
Securing your Boston creative portrait session is easy. Signing a simple contract and paying a 75% deposit will hold your spot, and the remaining 25% is due the day before your shoot.

FAQ
Who are creative portraits for?
Creative portrait sessions are for anyone who wants images that go beyond the ordinary. They’re perfect for men, women, and couples, as well as for building or updating a model or actor portfolio. Many clients also book them as meaningful gifts for a partner, a birthday surprise, or a way to celebrate an anniversary.
What should I wear for my creative portrait session?
I’ll help you plan the right outfits during our call so everything feels intentional and fits the mood, style, and location of your creative portrait session.
Your outfit sets the tone for your portraits. Bold, fashion-forward pieces work beautifully for an editorial vibe, while simple, polished outfits are perfect for timeless portraits.
Do I need professional hair and makeup for my creative portrait session?
For women, professional hair and makeup are highly recommended, since they can help you feel confident and ensure your portraits look polished while still feeling like you. For men, makeup is not necessary, but a fresh haircut and a well-groomed beard or shave can make a big difference. To keep shine under control, I provide powder and blotting sheets during the session if needed.
Do you help with posing?
Absolutely. You don’t need any modeling experience for your creative portrait session. I’ll guide you through poses, angles, and setups that highlight your personality and match the style you want, whether that’s editorial, romantic, or playful.
What if I want something more artistic or styled?
That is absolutely possible. Creative portrait sessions are designed to be flexible, and we can take them in a more editorial, fashion-inspired, or artistic direction if that matches your vision. During our planning call, we’ll map out the styling, location, and mood together so the final images feel unique, intentional, and personal to you.
What is included in a creative portrait session?
You can choose between two session options.
-
The Mini Session includes 15 high-resolution, color corrected digital images with 4 retouched favorites. We’ll select these together right after the shoot, or you can add a private gallery for $200 if you’d like more time to decide at home.
-
The Full Session includes 50+ high-resolution, color corrected digital images with 6 retouched favorites, delivered in a private gallery link within 1 week of the shoot.
For both sessions, additional retouched photos are available for $75 each, and your final retouched images will be delivered within 5 business days of your selections.
What happens if it rains the day of my creative portrait session?
If your creative portrait session is outdoors and the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll reschedule to a new date and time that works for both of us.
How long does a creative portrait session last?
Mini Sessions last about 90 minutes and are great if you want to fit in 4 or more outfits with a variety of portraits in the studio. Full Sessions run about 2 hours and give us extra time for multiple wardrobe changes, different setups, and a wider range of looks, either in the studio or on location.
How do I book a creative portrait session?
The best way to book your Boston creative portrait session is by cell, either call or text. If I don’t respond right away, I’m probably in the middle of a shoot, but I’ll get back to you as soon as I’m free. You’re also welcome to email me if that’s easier for you.
Will you post my creative portraits on social media or your website?
Most of my Boston creative portrait clients love being featured on social media or in my portfolio, but your privacy always comes first. If you’d prefer to keep your photos private, just let me know and I’ll gladly respect that.
Are appointments required for a creative portrait session?
Yes, all creative portrait sessions are by appointment. Each session is carefully planned in advance so we can choose the right location, styling, and setups to give you the best experience possible.
What forms of payment do you accept for creative portrait sessions?
For your convenience, I accept all major credit cards, as well as Venmo and Zelle for Boston creative portrait sessions.
What are the booking and cancellation policies for creative portrait sessions?
To book your date, you’ll simply sign a contract and submit a 75% deposit of the session fee. Your spot is officially confirmed once both are received. The remaining 25% is due the day before your Boston creative portrait session.
Deposits and session fees are non-refundable. However, if you provide at least 48 hours’ notice, I’m happy to reschedule once to a new date that works for both of us.
What happens if I am running late to my creative portrait session?
The best thing you can do is keep me updated in real time. If your creative portrait session is in the studio and I don’t have another client right after you, I’ll do my best to adjust. For outdoor sessions, timing is more limited since they are scheduled around the best natural light. Arriving late may reduce your shooting time and could mean missing out on the most flattering light for your portraits.
Do I own the rights to my creative portrait images?
Yes. You’ll have full rights to use your creative portraits for personal use and self-promotion, including social media, websites, portfolios, or gifts. What you cannot do is sell them for profit or provide them to a third party for commercial use.
Do you travel outside of Boston for creative portrait sessions?
Yes! I’m happy to travel for creative portrait sessions outside of Boston. Depending on the location, a travel fee may apply.
How are the final creative portrait images delivered?
You’ll receive a private online gallery link to download your creative portraits in high-resolution JPG format. The link will stay active for 30 days, so be sure to save and back up your images in a safe place.
Do you keep my creative portrait photos, and can I order more later?
Yes, you can order additional creative portrait photos for up to 30 days after your session. After that, I clear space in my archive to make room for new shoots. If you think you might want extras, it’s best to decide within that timeframe.
